Anniversary Show
It's been a year since Rise Up Radio's last training and six years since our beginnings as a media collective. Tonight we celebrate that history. On this edition:
- youth news, including: the sentencing of U.S. soldier James P. Barker for the rape and murder of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and her family; the launch of Al-Jazeera's English-language TV channel (watch it free online); a cell-phone video catches police brutally tasing a UCLA student; efforts continue to the close School of the Americas at Ft. Benning.
- a collage of inspiring moments from the past year, including: youth from the Osborne Association defend their rights as children of incarcerated parents, John Ball recalls being incarcerated at 13, Julia Sudbury breaks down our unwitting complicity with the prison industrial complex, filmmaker Byron Hurt discusses his work educating young men about mysogyny and masculinity in American culture... and more!
- smokin musical interludes provided by K-Swift.
